Doctoral supervisor, MD/ Post-doctorate, Director of the Department of Human Parasitology

Jianping Chen, male, born in 1962, professor of West China School of Basic Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine, doctoral supervisor. He received his PhD degree in 1995 with the nationwide famous Prof. Xiaosu Hu. In 1997, he continued his postdoc research in the CDC, China with microbiologist, academician Prof. ShouyiGao. In the year of 1998, he became the vice director, vice professor, master supervisor of the Department of Human Parasitology. Later, he became a professor and doctoral supervisor in 2000. At present, he is the director of the department and the vice president of the professor committee of the school.

He is the standing committee member of Chinese Medical Association of Tropical Diseases and Parasitic Diseases, the standing committee member of the Chinese Protozoological Society, member of the Chinese medicine parasite branch of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine and has joined many other academic organizations related to the microbes and parasites of locally and nationwide. He is now the associated editor and editorial board member of many academic journals, including the “Journal of parasitic diseases and infectious diseases”, “Chinese journal of parasitology and parasitology”, “Journal of Tropical Medicine”, etc. He is in charge of 4 projects of NSFC funds, 1 subtopic of the National “Eleventh Five” Major Science and Technology Project, and other 6 projects at ministerial and provincial-level. He has published over 100 articles including 25 SCI articles. He won the third prize of National Prize for Progres in Science and Technology in 1998 and second prize of Science and Technology Progress of Ministry of Health. He is the chief editor of the textbook “Human Parasitology”,Experimental guidance of pathogenic biology” and “Human parasitology atlas”, and is the vice editor of other 18 textbooks. He has supervised 17 PhD students, 18 master students and has 2 PhD students and 3 master students in progress.
